taking the barb out of my lures?

i have a lot of barbed lures and on some them id like to take the barbed part off. i have tried a knife and scissors with no luck. so what is the best way to take it off of treble hooks and non treble hooks? and what is the best tool to do so?

Are you trying to remove the whole hook or just the barb from the hooks?

If your removing the barb-for easy releasing of fish etc then you can simply crimp it down flat with a pair of pliers or even a hemostat.

If your trying to remove the hook from the lure-which is held in place with a split ring 99% of the time, then you need a pair of split ring pliers-although you can use your finger nails, its a lot quicker with split ring pliers-most saltwater tackle stores sell them.
