Scientific Anglers Fly

How long will my fly line last?
I just bought some scientific angler fly line. I was wondering if i should put it one now or like in may when i actually go fishing? I just wanna know if i should keep it in the box until May or will it matter?
You can put in now if you’d like. The line will last a relatively long time if you don’t damage it by stepping on it and things like that. Keep it clean as per the manufacturer’s recommendation and don’t leave it baking in your vehicle. Line cuts kill a lot of lines, so be careful should you get a tangle or wrap your leader/tippet around the line. I’ve also seen a fair share of lines trashed by cigar and cigarette burns

The Science of Fly-Fishing $18.63 The foundations of fly-fishing history, literature, and mechanics are firmly anchored in the disciplines of science, yet until now there has been no comprehensive work that integrates scientific components into the sport of angling for trout and other game fish. The Science of Fly-Fishing fills that void. Stan L. Ulanksi presents the basic elements of the physical and biological sciences in a way that helps the reader see their practical application to fishing. The Science of Fly-Fishing is designed for anglers–whether they have any formal background in science or not–who are curious about the relevance of science to their sport. The angling-related scientific concepts revealed in the book require no more of the reader than a good dose of common sense and a willingness to expand his or her fly-fishing knowledge. Ulanski’s thoughtful explorations of topics such as the physics of fly casting, the angler’s environment, the diet of trout, and the role of lake geology and biology will help anglers reach a greater understanding of and appreciation for the natural aquatic home of their quarry. |

Fly $12.14 Few creatures are as universally despised as flies. Blamed for pestilence and plagues, they were publicly excommunicated from the medieval church. Beelzebub, the lord of the flies, was said to be the embodiment of evil, and, for centuries, flies were considered the result of spontaneous generation–the unnatural consequence of rotting meat. Fly explores the history of this much-maligned creature and then turns to examine its newfound redemption through science. The secrets of the fly’s versatile powers of flight, Steven Connor reveals, are only beginning to be understood and appreciated. Its eyes and wings, for instance, have evolved so perfectly that they provide inspiration for some of today’s most daring technological and scientific innovations. And the humble fruit fly, Connor demonstrates, stands at the center of revolutionary advances in genetic research. Connor delights in tracking his lowly subject through myth, literature, poetry, painting, film, and biology. Humans live in close and intimate quarters with flies, but Fly is the first book to give these common creatures their due. |

Tuna on the Fly $23.72 The ultimate guidebook to catching bluefin, yellowfin, and blackfin tuna, in all the hottest fishing spots. Perhaps the last great frontier of fly fishing is the catching of big, strong, fast offshore tuna species on a fly rod. These fish were the targets of such trophy fishermen as Zane Gray and were thought to be just too large to be handled on fly-fishing gear. That changed during the 1990s as anglers began to develop ways of targeting these fish when they were of a size that could be handled on fly tackle and these efforts were helped along with the development of a new generation of heavy-duty fly gear. Now, Tom Gilmore takes the reader into this exciting, new world. Gilmore explains the habits and behavior of the different species of tuna and identifies the areas where these fish can be found. He covers tackle, tactics, and important flies and knots to hold these blue-water beasts. 8 color pages, 40 black & white photographs, 10 maps, index. |
